BUYING A SCOOTER ON EBAY THE HIGHS AND LOWS OF IT ALL!

BUYING A SCOOTER ON EBAY?

BEWARE !!

WHAT CAN I TELL YOU THAT YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW ?

WELL FOR ONE PLEASE BEWARE OF THE 0 FEEDBACK BUSINESS SELLERS WHO TAKE PICTURES OF SCOOTERS THEY DON'T OWN THEN ADVERTISE THEM ON EBAY AT A VERY PLEASING PRICE AND WITH FREE DELIVERY.

THEY NEVER GIVE A PHONE NUMBER. YOU CAN ONLY CONTACT THEM THROUGH EBAY'S EMAIL SYSTEM.

HERE IS HOWTHE EMAILSUSUALY GO.............

BUYER "HI I LIKE THE LOOK OF THIS SCOOTER. CAN I COME AND BUY IT TOMORROW WITH CASH AS YOU ARE NOT TOO FAR AWAY FROM ME?"

SELLER (CON ARTIST) "GREAT, I AM GLAD YOU WANT THE SCOOTER. UNFORTUNATELY I AM OUT OF THE COUNTRY AT THE MOMENT ON BUSINESS BUT TO RESERVE THIS SCOOTER YOU CAN PAY ME THROUGH EBAYS OWN SYSTEM OF PAYMENTS AND THEN THE SCOOTER CAN BE DELIVERED TO YOUR HOUSE FREE OF CHARGE WITHIN 48 HOURS"

CLEVER BUYER "SOD OFF YOU CONNING GIT I AM REPORTING THIS FRAUD TO EBAY"

UNFORTUNATELY NOT SO CLEVER BUYER "OK SO HOW DOES THAT WORK?"

SELLER (CON ARTIST) OK IF YOU SEND ME YOUR DIRECT EMAIL ADDRESS AND TELEPHONE NUMBER I WILL SET THE SALE IN MOTION. EBAY WILL SEND YOU A PAYMENT REQUEST FORM, FOLLOW THAT TO THE LETTER AND THE SCOOTER WILL BE WITH YOU 48 HOURS AFTER THE PAYMENT IS MADE"

UNFORTUNATELY NOT SO CLEVER BUYER "OK HERE ARE MY DETAILS PLEASE GET EBAY TO FORWARD ME THE DETAILS FOR THIS SALE"

AT THIS POINT THE SELLER (CON ARTIST) WILL SEND YOU A VERY AUTHENTIC LOOKING FORM ASKING FOR ALL YOUR DETAILS INCLUDING YOUR PASSWORD FOR EBAY ETC ETC AND SEND YOU A PAYMENT REQUEST FORM WHICH SOMEWHAT RESEMBLES AN EQUITY PAYMENT FORM.

ONCE YOU HAVE FILLED IN THE FORMS THEY HAVE ALL YOUR DETAILS AND WITH THESE THEY AT A LATER STAGE CAN HIJACK YOUR ACCOUNT AND CON SOME OTHER POOR BUYER WITH YET ANOTHER SCAM LEAVING YOU TO TRY AND SORT OUT THE MESS LATER.

IF YOU FOLLOW THEIR PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS WHICH ALWAYS INVOLVE SENDING MONEY TO SOME PERSON IN THE UK VIA EITHER WESTERN UNION OR MONEYGRAM. ONCE YOU HAVE SENT THIS MONEY IT IS GONE. THERE IS NO WAY YOU WILL EVER SEE IT AGAIN NOR WILL YOU EVER GET YOUR SCOOTER!!

THEY DO ALL THIS QUITE EASILY. THEY FIRST FIND SOME UNEMPLOYED DRUG DEPENDENT OR ALCOHOLIC PERSON NORMALY IN A MAJOR CITY WHO WILL DO ANYTHING FOR MONEY. THEY PAY HIM A PERCENTAGE OF THE DEAL MONEY WHICH IS PROBABLY NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT THEY ARE MAKING ONLY THEY ARE NOT TAKING THE RISK, HE/SHE IS. THEY USE THIS PERSONS NAME TO SEND THE MONEY TO VIA ONE OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED SERVICES. THE PERSON GOES IN, TAKES OUT THE MONEY, GIVES IT TO THE CON ARTISTS AND IS HAPPY AS HE HAS MADE A FEW QUID. LITTLE DOES HE/SHE KNOW THAT WHEN THE POLICE FINALY CATCH UP IT ISHIM/HER WHO WILL BE GOING TO JAIL AND NOT THE CON ARTISTS AS THEY ARE WELL GONE BY THEN.

ONCE THEY HAVE SET UP THE MONEY COLLECTOR THEY THEN SET UP A BOGUS BUSINESS ACCOUNT ON EBAY AS MOST PEOPLE WILL THINK THAT IF AN ACCOUNT WITH EBAY IS A BUSINESS ACCOUNT, THEY MUST HAVE BEEN FULLY VETTED AND CHECKED. WRONG ! AS LONG AS EBAY CAN SEND YOU THE PAPERWORK AND YOU FILL IT IN AND RETURN IT, YOU CAN BE A BUSINESS TRADER. ALL THIS IS NATURALY IN THE NAME OF THE MONEY COLLECTOR.

ALL THIS IN PLACE THEY SET UP NICE LOOKING ADS ON EBAY TO ROB AND CON THE UNSUSPECTING PUBLIC.

PEOPLE, PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU SEND OFF ANY MONEY.

I HAVE SOLD A NUMBER OF SCOOTERS ON EBAY AND ALWAYS STATE THAT IF THE BIDDER WANTS TO COME AND SEE OR TEST THESCOOTER THEY CAN.ANYBODY WHO IS A GENUINE SELLER WILL OFFER THIS OPTION. IF THEY DON'T OR THEY MAKE EXCUSES, RUN AWAY.

THERE IS A VERY OLD SAYING.........IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALY IS!!!

LETS ALL WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE EBAY AND THE SCOOTERING WORLD A SAFER PLACE.

IF YOU SEE A LISING YOU SUSPECT MAY BE FRAUDULENT THEN PLEASE CONTACT EBAY THROUGH THEIR SYSTEM.

ANY GENUINE SELLER WILL NOT MIND EBAY CONTACTING THEM TO CHECK ON THE LISTING. ONLY CON ARTISTS WILL MIND AND WE DON'T CARE WHAT THEY THINK!!

BE SAFE RIDE SAFE AND KEEP THE FAITH.

YOU MAY WONDER HOW I KNOW ALL ABOUT THIS SCAM. WELL ONLY A FEW MONTHS AGO A FREIND OF MINE SENT OFF 750 FOR A LOVELY BLUE T5 MK1 AND GOT SCAMMED. I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO LOOK INTO HOW THE SCAM WORKS AND THE FINDINGS, IF ONLY AN ABREVIATED VERSION, ARE ALL ABOVE.

THE SIMPLE MESSAGE IS BEWARE OFFERS THAT ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
